One Fatal Mistake To Avoid In Your Business!

When building a business, the desire of all entrepreneurs is for the phone to never stop ringing, for the customers to be flowing in in their hundreds or thousands as the case may be. In a bid to achieve this, we usually fall into the error of becoming everything to everybody; it is a fatal error!

Many business people have gone through this mistake and they have various not so cheerful story to tell.
In today's global business space, it is actually suicidal to be the proverbial Jack of all trade...
So what is the way to go? Specialize! Specialize! Specialize!

To succeed in a competitive market place, a product or service must be specialized to perform a specific function and be outstanding at satisfying a clearly defined need of the customer.

It must be be very clear and distinct what a product is meant to do, and for whom it is designed for.
Products that try to be all things to all customers end up being nothing to no one. If customers are not sure of the specific use or application of the product, they will pass it by in favor of something else.
So many companies have failed because they refuse to specialize and do not serve a sufficient number of customers in a cost-effective way.

Specialization is the starting point of successful marketing. It must be made clear what it is you are offering to whom. You must carefully and continually define and redefine your specific customer is absolutely essential for the success of your business.

So how can you ensure you are always on the right track of specialization in your company? As Brian Tracy noted in his book The Absolutely Unbreakable Laws of Business Success, you must
1.) Continually ask and answer accurately the following questions: Who is our customer? Who exactly is our product designed for? What does our customer consider value? What specific need, want, or desire does our customer have that our product is created to satisfy?

2.) Study your market carefully and ask yourself: In what ways could our product or service be modified or improved so that it satisfies even more of the special needs of a larger number of customers? What could we do to our product or service to make it even more appealing to a larger market without losing our core customer base?

The more you ask these focused questions and sincerely provide answers to them through the eyes of your customers, the more you will become increasingly specialize with your business, your product, and service, and the more successful your business will become, trust me on this!
